Accessibility

The Pearl Harbor Visitor Center is designed for wheelchair access throughout. Accessible parking is located in the front lot, and key facilities – restrooms, the movie theater, exhibit galleries, bookstore, information desk, drinking fountains, Navy shuttle boats, and the USS Arizona Memorial – are accessible. Distances between some facilities can be considerable. Benches are placed around the grounds for rest breaks. Wheelchairs are not supplied for general use and are available only in emergencies.

Services for Visitors with Hearing Impairments

The documentary film in the theater is fully captioned in English, and an induction loop system is available for hearing aid users. For American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation, arrangements differ based on the type of visit.

Visitors arriving with a tour company should request an interpreter through their tour provider for the USS Arizona Memorial and any partner sites. Visitors holding a Recreation.gov reservation (without a tour company) should email after securing the reservation using the subject line “ASL Interpretive Services Request.” Requests must be submitted at least five business days before the visit; park rangers cannot modify or assist with reservations.

On the day, an ASL interpreter can support the boat ride, the memorial visit, and interactions with staff for up to two hours at the visitor center. Additional time, if needed, may involve extra costs covered by the visitor. If plans include other Pearl Harbor Historic Sites, advance notice helps coordinate appropriate services.

Services for Visitors with Visual Impairments

Braille signage and tactile models are available at interpretive areas throughout the visitor center. A braille-ready file (BRF) is also available for download for pre-visit planning or personal use.

Advance arrangements for specialized services help ensure a smooth experience at this historic site.
